The Moment
After unprecedented challenges, Haifa is emerging as Israel's innovation capital. Or Vishua stands at the center of this transformation, rebuilding the North's spiritual infrastructure.
Northern Israel faced unprecedented challenges in 2023-2026: over 60,000 evacuated, persistent attacks and significant economic disruption. Communities were shattered.
A massive reconstruction effort is now underway, with over $2 billion invested to rebuild communities and support returning families across the North.
With the Technion, a thriving startup ecosystem and 560,000+ jobs, Haifa is becoming Israel's northern powerhouse. The spiritual infrastructure must keep pace.
Why It Matters
Or Vishua is a complete ecosystem: Torah learning, military leadership, immigrant integration, family life and professional development, all woven into the fabric of Haifa.

Leadership
Rosh Yeshiva
Rav Zini's life embodies the synthesis of Torah, academic excellence, military service and community building that defines the hesder ideal. He completed a PhD in Mathematics at the Technion, conducted post-doctoral research at the Weizmann Institute and has taught both mathematics and Jewish thought for over four decades.
He served in the IDF Medical Corps and fought in the 1982 Lebanon War. As Chief Rabbi of the Technion for over 30 years, he has guided thousands of students in navigating the intersection of science, faith and national service.
His family carries an unbroken thousand-year rabbinic lineage descending from the students of the Rif (Rabbi Yitzhak Alfasi), spanning Spain, Morocco, Algeria and France. His grandfather was the havruta of the Baba Sali (Rabbi Israel Abuhatsira). Rav Zini made aliyah from France in 1970.
